The ' kollu ' - Horsegram dal is very effective in providing heat to the body when you need them badly.
Also they provide good energy.
I took some half cup Horsegram dal.
Washed them thoroughly and soaked for an hour.
These dals are very shiny and lovely to see.
Would be very ideal to use a mud vessel as the mud vessel induces the taste of this dal.
I pressure cooked the dal, adding enough salt and turmeric powder.
Added water in large as i do not mind if the water goes in excess.
As i would use the dal water to make rasam :-)
Once the dal is cooked enough-- kind of mashed stage,
Again with the laddle, i keep pressing the dal to bring to a fine paste consistency.
In a pan, heat 3 tbsp coconut oil, splutter mustard and cumin seeds.
As the oil heats up, you can smell the awesome aroma.
Drop in washed curry leaves and slit green chillies.
Some red chillies also.
Drizzle this seasoning on top of the dal and mix.
Very yum to eat along with rice.
I just love this food if made by my beloved grandmother.
