Home Made Wonton Sheets / Rice Papers / Spring Roll Sheets

The wonton sheets that are readily available in bazars can be as well prepared at home and can be stored in fridge for almost 1 - 2 weeks.

The ingredients are very simple requiring -

All purpose Refined Flour - 3/4 Cup
Corn Flour                          - 1/4 Cup
Oil                                       - 1 tsp
Vinegar / Lemon Juice        - 1 tsp

Takes total time of 40 minutes to 1 hour to prepare them.
Serves 4 people.

Method :

Mix all the ingredients together using water added in portions, just enough to knead a smooth dough.

Rest the dough for 20 minutes.
Ball the dough.

Take 3 balls and spread them.
Now on each spread discs, apply 1 tsp oil and wipe, followed by a dash of flour sprinkled.
Place these 3 discs on 1 on top of another.

Together of these 3 discs merged into 1, give a firm spread until they become thin.
Heat a tawa, and toast the disc.
Now chop of the ends / trim the ends and you can see the layers.
With your fingers, gently separate the layers.

Same way, prepare with the other balls as well.
Now the Wonton sheets are ready and can be used directly to make spring rolls.
And the excess sheets can be saved in a ziplock cover into the fridge.

Filling :

I opted for a eggy veggy portion, mixing the eggs and vegetables ( carrot and beans )
and prepared the mixture with salt, turmeric and pepper powder in a pan until they are cooked enough.

Stuffing :

For this take 4 tbsp. maida in a bowl and add drops of water and mix until you get a thick paste.
This paste is used for sticking the stuffing.

Onto the sheet, place the stuffing, roll as per your preference, rectangle / triangle / pockets, use the maida paste to seal the coners and deep fry them into hot oil.

Thus the hot yummy Spring Rolls gets beautifully ready if proper time and patience is invested.
