Lemon Sevai


I generally save some Idiyapam and pinch them tiny to prepare the lemon version of them for a chai / coffee or even a light dinner ..




Required Ingredients :

The Plain sevai - A Cup
Curry Leaves - Handful
Lemon - Half
Peanuts - Handful
Mustard / Chana Dal / Urad Dal - 1/2 tsp each
Green Chiilie - 2
Onion - 1
Salt to taste
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp

Serves - 2 People

Method :

Heat up a wide pan with 2 to 3 tbsp Coconut oil ( or your preferred oil ).
Splutter in the dry seeds along with peanuts and wait until the peanuts gets roasted. ( Do not over roast ).


Add in the curry leaves and the slit green chillies and finely chopped onions.
Add required salt and 1 tsp Turmeric Powder.


Toss in the pinched Idiyapam / Sevai and give a generous stir.
Finally squeeze the half lime and mix well.
Tastes good with a side of coconut chutney.

They are ready to serve.




My Tip : As the method is very simple, would be great if you could prepare just 5 minutes before serving. As the sevai would tend to turn hard of left for a while..
