Vettu Cake


My dear friend Princy was too generous to share her hit recipe named - Vettu Cake to me.
She said these are a great combo for a good evening Chai.
At the moment I saw her Vettu Cake pictures instantly I decided to make them the next day :-)

( Though with a resolution that I have to make the same way she did and get the best taste out of it)
As she is a great cook and too good in bringing out awesome taste for the dishes she prepares :-)




Requirements :

All purpose Flour - 1 cup
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 tsp Elachi Powder
1 Egg ( optional )
1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder

Method :

Take a wide vessel add the flour baking soda powdered sugar, elachi powder.
Mix well.
Add the turmeric powder and an egg.
Am adding the egg which is my improvisation against my friend's recipe.
The Egg is optional.
Make a sticky dough and leave to rest for 1 hour.

Ball them, and make a X cut on top with a knife.

Grease the palm and knife well before you ball them and shape the X.
Deep fry in hot oil.

The oil should be hot but then keep in sim mode - I mean slow frying.
If not the inside portion will not get cooked properly.
You get spongy fluffy Vettu cake which you can pair along with a beautiful ' Garam ' Chai :-)
