Egg Puff

Yes, making Egg Puff is as much fun as playing with a clay dough :-)

Ingredients :

All Purpose Flour : 250 gm
Salt - 5 gm or as per taste
Water - 130 ml.. or as much as required to make a medium stiff dough.
Lime Juice - 1 tsp
Butter - 200 gm

Method :

  • Mix together the all purpose flour, salt, water and lime juice and make a medium stiff dough.
  • Add in 2 tbsp butter, again knead and shape into a round dough.
  • Allow to rest in fridge for 15 minutes.
  • Take out the dough. Dust the working floor with enough flour.
  • Place the dough and spread the dough into circular or rectangular or square shape.
  • To 1 half of the spread portion apply butter.
  • Dust some flour on the buttered portion.
  • Fold in the unbuttered portion onto the buttered portion.

  • Take a baking pan. Dust with flour.
  • Place the folded dough spread on it.
  • Refrigirate for 15 minutes.
  • Take the pan out and repeat the same method for a minimum of 5 times.,

Now slice the spread dough into required portions.
Place in the filling. ( Either Vegetable or even some boiled egg )
I made Tomato Thoku wit boiled eggs into it and placed  on the sliced portion.
Covered finely.
The multiple layers in the above picture helps in easy unfolding of the pastry while getting baked.
And if that to bhappen, there should be enough butter inbetween all the layers.

Gave a milk spray ( Also water spray works well ).
Bake in a pre - heated Oven for 20 minutes at 220 deg C
